HOUSE PASSES SJR 2, MAKING TEXAS #11!

THE CONVENTION OF STATES PROJECT TEXAS ENTHUSIASTICALLY THANKS EVERYONE WHO WORKED TO PASS SJR2!

On Thursday, May 4th, also the National Day of Prayer, the Texas legislature passed SJR2, the Convention of States resolution 94-51, making Texas the 11th state to pass the identical Article V resolution!

In a massive show of force against the federal administrative state, passing SJR2 in Texas was a collaborative effort by Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, sponsors Senator Brian Birdwell and Rep. Rick Miller--together with the growing Texas COS grassroots army (125K+ strong) and many others who relentlessly worked behind the scenes to get the Convention of States Resolution over the finish line.

Enjoy this Victory!! YOU DESERVE IT!

If your House Representative was a cosponsor, call him or her TODAY to thank them for staying the course. Here is a list with contact information.

The grassroots are the key to victory -- high numbers ensure success. So are you ready to talk to your friends about the Convention of States Project?

Join our team as a District Captain!

Our goal is to find one District Captain in every Texas state house district. The District Captain's mission is simple: find 100 people in your district willing to contact their state legislators in support of Convention of States legislation next session.

It doesn't take a huge time commitment to make a difference. Five constituent phone calls is often enough to move an issue to the top of a state legislator's priority list. In person meetings are even more effective.

Get involved today by reaching out to your state legislators. Don't know what to say?

If you'd like a Convention of States leader to attend a meeting with you and your legislator, contact your state’s legislative liaison.

Lt. Gov. Patrick Congratulates the COS Grassroots

The Convention of States Texas team recently received a letter from Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick congratulating us on our success in passing the Article V resolution. Patrick, who as Lieutenant Governor also serves as the President of the Senate, was instrumental in bringing about the passing vote in the Senate calling for the amendments convention. Ever the grassroots champion, the Texas Lieutenant Governor partnered with the Convention of States Texas grassroots army and Governor Greg Abbott, and included the Convention of States resolution as one of his legislative priorities for the 2017 session.

TEXAS BECOMES STATE #11

VICTORY IN THE HOUSE MAKES TEXAS #11!

As several hundred COS supporters gathered at the capitol in Austin on the morning of May 4, the mood was optimistic. The Texas team was excited about the impending House floor vote on the Convention of States resolution, SJR 2, which had garnered 79 sponsors in addition to the main author, Rep. Rick Miller of Sugar Land. With 150 members in the House of Representatives, only 76 votes were needed to pass, so we felt we were virtually assured of a winning vote.
