TEXAS TEAM CONTINUES STRONG

What has the COS Texas team been up to since the Texas legislature passed the Article V resolution on May 4? Here are a few areas where we've been busy:

We continue to interact with our legislators, developing relationships and communicating the need for a return to the Framers' vision of federalism and government of, by, and for the People. An example was our involvement in Gov. Abbott's special session in July and August.

Petition SignerWe are continuing to spread understanding of an Article V convention at events around the state, such at the recent convention of the Texas Federation of Republican Women in Dallas (photo at left). See some more photos of our booth.

We are also helping other states to build grassroots support for resolution in their state. An opportunity for this happened at the Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah. Read more in the blog post "Texas Team Goes on the Road."

We always have a need for volunteers in Texas! A couple of our current needs are for a State Legislative Liaison and a State Grassroots Coordinator, and there are also House districts that are looking for a District Captain. See the Texas Action Prompt section below for more information or click here for a more complete list of positions.

Let's continue to remember those affected by the hurricanes, especially Harvey on the south Texas coast. Here are a few organizations providing relief who would welcome your contributions.

COS Texas currently has a need for a State Legislative Liaison, to serve as the interface between Texas legislators and the COS team. As legislative liaison, you will help educate legislators and assist the COS team in developing legislative strategies.

The grassroots are the key to victory -- high numbers ensure success. So are you ready to talk to your friends about the Convention of States Project?

Join our team as a District Captain!

Our goal is to find one District Captain in every Texas state house district. The District Captain's mission is simple: find 100 people in your district willing to contact their state legislators in support of Convention of States legislation next session.

It doesn't take a huge time commitment to make a difference. Five constituent phone calls is often enough to move an issue to the top of a state legislator's priority list. In person meetings are even more effective.

Get involved today by reaching out to your state legislators. Don't know what to say?

Download talking points here.

Could you serve as a State Grassroots Coordinator to help train house district grassroots coordinators? The State GC motivates and inspires the House District Teams led by the District Captains with ideas for recruitment and activities to achieve the 100 volunteer goal for each house district.

COS Texas at the TFRW Convention

The 2017 Convention of the Texas Federation of Republican Women was held October 19-21, 2017 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. The COS Texas team manned a booth in the exhibit hall where we handed out literature, chatted with attendees about how an Article V convention will help America, and collected signatures on our petition.

Texas Team Goes on the Road

When the Texas House voted in favor of the SJR 2, making Texas state #11 to pass the Convention of States resolution, the COS team looked at each other and said, "Okay, great! - what now?!"

One answer to the "what now?" question is to help other states pass the resolution. As former Texas state co-director Paul Hodson was promoted to regional director over several western states, Texas become their "sister state" and is occasionally called on to help out with their grassroots efforts.
