WI COS Team,

1.  Online Training is available for all positions on Mondays (7:30pm on 1st & 3rd weeks / 3pm on 2nd & 4th each month).  Recordings can be watched and individual sessions are available upon request.  See slack or contact barbara.fausett@cosaction.com. If you've volunteered for specific tasks (like emailing, phone calls, events, house parties, letters to the editor, etc. just contact me at 414-750-0327 to get plugged in with those teams).

2.  A COS Surgical Strike is being implemented including WI specific literature deliveries, appointments with legislators' that accommodate schedules, and a tentative educational event (TBA).

3.  Enter your address in the upper right hand corner of http://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/ and a window with your senator's and assemblyman's contact info will pop up.  Give them a call thanking them for their service, recording their position regarding COS (not the Balanced Budget Amendment, which is fine but different), and ask when they have time to meet with us.  If you want to be included, share your availability either in Madison or back in your district.  Next contact me and I'll coordinate someone to join you (if you'd like) and/or prepare you for the meeting.  My cell is 414-750-0327 and email is Joanne.Laufenberg@cosaction.com.

4.  See http://www.conventionofstates.com/state_events for happenings near you and facebook.com/cosProjectWI.

Thank you for helping.  Without you, we can't get this done.

Sincerely,
Joanne Laufenberg
Acting State Director and Information Analyst

P.S.  Some districts still need District Captains or help with district efforts.  We really could use a State Information Analyst who doesn't need to be a computer programmer, just willing to learn how to use our programs and help others get access and functional, etc.

P.S.S.  Resolution number and lead sponsor to be announced.  We have a decent chance in the assembly this year.  The senate will be miraculous, but we're not ruling it out.  Hang tight and have faith.

The grassroots are the key to victory -- high numbers ensure success. So are you ready to talk to your friends about the Convention of States Project?

Join our team as a District Captain!

Our goal is to find one District Captain in every Wisconsin state house district. The District Captain's mission is simple: find 100 people in your district willing to contact their state legislators in support of Convention of States legislation next session.

It doesn't take a huge time commitment to make a difference. Five constituent phone calls is often enough to move an issue to the top of a state legislator's priority list. In person meetings are even more effective.

Get involved today by reaching out to your state legislators. Don't know what to say?

Download talking points here.

If you'd like a Convention of States leader to attend a meeting with you and your legislator, contact your WI Legislative Liaison.

Cedarburg Hears the Message!

pintspolitics.jpg

Cedarburg, WI -- It was a full house in Cedarburg last Thursday for a Pints and Politics event presented by the Ozaukee Republican Party.  The crowd received the information and was inspired to take action regarding the Convention of States (COS). Presenting was David Schneider, Region Director for Convention of States.  David was joined by Eric O’Keefe, Director of Citizens for Self-Governance; WI State Representative Bob Gannon (58th District); and Tom Peters, WI State Director for Convention of States.

The ‘Round Table’ format offered the audience plenty of opportunities for spirited exchanges with the panel.  During one lively moment concerning Our Nations “rapidly deteriorating condition” Rep. Gannon took the microphone and announced that he was Authoring the COS Resolution which is to be introduced in the Wisconsin Assembly this week!  The Resolution’s Co-Authors are:  Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt (52nd District) and Jesse Kremer (59th District).  These Legislative Patriots will be adding Co-Sponsors as the days and weeks unfold.

I again ask all COS supporters & prospects [as well as any WI citizen whom is concerned about your children & grandchildren’s future], to call your State Senator [click on link here], ask to speak to them or insist on a phone call back to politely discuss this topic.  Please encourage them to be the COS Resolution’s Senatorial Author and join Rep. Gannon in fostering this vital RESOLUTION through BOTH WISCONSIN LEGISLATIVE CHAMBERS for Passage in early spring 2016! Please also don’t let them settle for supporting just a Balanced Budget application for a convention.  If you Senator says   Let’s make Wisconsin one of the 1st ten states to get our COS PETITION to the US Congress!

All of us have enjoyed the freedom & liberties fought and died for by our parents & grandparents before us.  IF WE DO NOT ALTER / CHANGE THE DIRECTION OUR NATION IS HEADING (and at an accelerating & frightening pace) the legacy we will leave our successors is that they will be far worse off than we inherited from our folks.  Our children & grandchildren DESERVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE HAD TO DREAM & BECOME WHATEVER THEY WANT TO BE IN A PROSPEROUS UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!  We must NOT ACCEPT THE “Notion” THAT AMERICA’S BEST DAYS ARE BEHIND US!  Our Founding Fathers risked everything to ensure that we would continue to be free in God’s Blessed Nation. An Awakened, Educated, and “Fired-Up” Citizenry will repair our legacy to ENSURE OUR NATION LIVES & PROSPERS ONWARD FOR MANY MORE GENERATIONS.

Thank-You For All You Do For Our Worthy, Patriotic Cause!   May GOD BLESS & GUIDE WISCONSINITES & its LEGISLATURE IN THE MONTHS AHEAD!
