Our featured speaker this month will be Dr. Tim Johnson, Professor of History at Lipscomb University. Dr. Johnson will cover key points from his book "Liberty vs. Power: The Founding Fathers' Vision for America". We will be posting some of the quotes from the Founding Fathers listed in the back of this book in the days leading up to the meeting.
The South Central Regional Meeting will be on Saturday, May 14, 2016, 9:00 AM -11:00 AM (CDT) in the Conference Room of Grace Lutheran Church, 811 East Clark Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130.
Agenda for this month:
-- Dr. Johnson's presentation on "Liberty vs. Power".
-- Engaging with Tennessee State Lawmakers: The General Assembly wrapped up the 2016 session. Now is our chance to re-engage with our lawmakers again as they return home to their districts. The truth of the matter is that our lawmakers pay more attention to constituents and spend more time with them in the Summer and Fall of election years. We need to take advantage of that! We will be sharing several events and tasks in which we will be engaging with Tennessee Senators and Representatives.
-- National Updates: We will review news and progress from other states.
-- Updates from Committees: We will hear from the leaders of our committees on their progress. The committees are: a) Software, b) Training, c) Delegate Selection, d) Delegate Instructions, e) Convention Rules and f) Proposed Amendments.
-- Recruiting at polling places: We will discuss setting up tables at polling places for the August 4 primary and the November general election.
-- Special speaker(s): In process...we are working with several people and will let you know.
