This is an exciting time for COS as our Resolution SJR14 heads into a committee hearing Monday Jan 25th, at 9:00 am. Unfortunately we have learned that your Senator, James Buck will vote NO and refuses to support SJR14. This could be the deciding vote to stop us dead in our tracks!
Senator Buck reports that he prefers to see a Convention take place for a single amendment rather than for a package of amendments to limit the runaway power of Washington, D.C., as we are proposing. Washington needs a package of restraints. A single Balanced Budget is needed, but is not enough. We need a solution as big as the problem.
Senator Buck has been a part of a competing Article V group that calls for a Balanced Budget Amendment only. The time for rivalry between these two groups must end. We will not tolerate a rivalry between legislators dictating what amendments will be proposed. Senator Buck appears to be more loyal to a rival Article V group than to his constituents.
Please contact Senator Buck's office (317-232-9466 or email@example.com) on Thursday 1-21 or Friday 1-22 and tell him you expect him to vote YES on SJR14.
Many of Senator Buck’s constituents support calling a Convention of States. It's time to burn down his phone line with calls asking him to vote YES to SJR14. Please take a stand for liberty! CALL AND EMAIL TODAY!
SJR14 is Indiana's application to call a Convention of States to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, place term limits on its officials, and impose fiscal restraints. Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives states the authority to propose amendments through a Convention of States. Any proposed amendments must be ratified by 38 states.
