"An Ignorant people cannot remain free."

Thomas Jefferson observed, "An ignorant people cannot remain free."

The connection between an informed electorate and the very real solutions at its disposal has never been more direct than it is today.

Absent an understanding of the HOW and WHY of our Constitutional structure, we're poorly armed to take up our part in defending the BARRIERS that protect individual liberty from overbearing government.

Many Americans go to the polls armed with little more than the mass-media's crafted presentation of current events and a head swimming with partisan rhetoric along with utopian promises peddled by politicians eager to convert fears and desires into political power.

One INDISPENSIBLE and uniquely American principle we MUST restore is this: Government is FORCE. A just and competent government cannot be the instrument through which the problems presented by human living are "solved." FORCE cannot make us healthy, wealthy or wise. It cannot make us socially acceptable nor grant the blessings of upward mobility.

Government is FORCE - the only just application of which is to protect LIFE, PROPERTY and LIBERTY.

This basic, almost instinctive insight shared by the majority of Americans served as a yardstick against which candidates, office-holders and policy prescriptions were measured for many decades. It served as "BS meter" and power-check, enabling previous generations Ito competently execute the job of the citizenry in a self-governed society: to oversee and CONTAIN the government within Constitutional bounds.

The erosion of subscription to this elemental understanding of Government limits has lead to virtually UNLIMITED grants of power to the central government.

Today our Federal Government is now DOMINATING rather than serving society. While racking up nearly 20 Trillion in debt, it demonstrates diminishing competence in the performance of its delegated duties: National Defense, upholding the Rule of Law, building/maintenance of public infrastructure.

Our DUTY to restore the sanity of our predecessors and RETURN power to the people is no less a fight for Liberty than that of the founding generation and those who fought the Revolutionary War. We must approach our part in the Cause of Liberty with the same sense of duty.

While widespread Constitutional literacy must be restored, one indispensable and uniquely American bit of wisdom we must restore immediately is this:

Government is FORCE.

This basic, almost instinctive insight shared by the majority of Americans only a generation ago, served as a yardstick against which candidates, office-holders and policy prescriptions were measured for many decades.  It served as a reliable "BS Meter" and power-check, empowering previous generations to competently execute the job of the citizenry in a self-governed society:  To oversee and CONTAIN their government within Constitutional bounds.

The erosion of subscription to this elemental understanding of government-power limits has lead to virtually UNLIMITED grants of power in recent decades.

Today our Federal Government is now DOMINATING rather than serving our society.  While racking up nearly $20 trillion in debt, it demonstrates ever-diminishing competence in the areas of delegated authority; National Defense, upholding the Rule of Law, public infrastructure and conduct of foreign policy.

Our obligation to restore the sanity of our predecessors and the Constitutional constraints on Federal Government Power is no less a FIGHT FOR LIBERTY than was that of the founding generation and those who fought the Revolutionary War.  We must approach our part in the Cause of Liberty with the same sense of duty.
